Eleventh Annual Fundraiser Nets $114,509

PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 26, 2014-- Rent-A-Center today donated $114,509.60 to North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). The proceeds are a result of a week-long fundraiser by Rent-A-Center employees coupled with a $50,000 corporate donation.

“Fighting hunger is a long-standing matter of importance to Rent-A-Center and its employees,” said Kenneth Jones, public affairs manager at Rent-A-Center. “It’s especially rewarding to support the communities we serve here in our own backyard.”

The Honorable Harry LaRosiliere, Mayor of Plano, and a vocal proponent of hunger relief, was on hand for the check presentation along with representatives of the food bank and several hundred Rent-A-Center employees.

“Rent-A-Center is a valued North Texas Food Bank ally in the fight against hunger,” said Jan Pruitt, NTFB president and CEO. “Rent-A-Center has raised $600,000 over four years to benefit our mission. These funds provided access to more than 1.8 million meals for hungry families in our community. The organization has also worked with NTFB partner agencies to donate in-kind products, like freezers, which help our partner agencies carry out the NTFB mission of distributing nutritious foods to the people that need them most.”
